Bisquick Malasada: Submitted by: Elaine Fukui | Date Added: 8 Mar 2019
Listed in: Desserts / Others

1 1/2 cups Bisquick
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
5 slices bread, crusts removed
peanut or vegetable oil, for frying
1/4 cup (or more) granulated sugar

Recommended Instructions

1. Combine first 5 ingredients to make a batter.

2. Remove crusts from break and slice each into fourths.

3. Dip bread into the batter and fry in hot oil (in a deep skillet or fryer), a few at a time, turning only once. When golden brown, remove to drain on paper towels.

4. In a clean brown paper bag, put 1/4 cup sugar. Toss malasadas in bag until well coated. (Alternatively, roll in sugar on a plate.)

Variation: Add 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg or mace to sugar for rolling.

5. Serve warm and devour.
